Recently, the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, reiterated the firm commitment of the Andalusian Government to families in possession of a house in an irregular situation.

A condition that affects, according to an estimate of the Ministry of Development, Infrastructure and Spatial Planning, some 300,000 properties for several decades.

He has done so in Velez-Malaga, where he has met with affected platforms, such as ‘Soha’, mayors and members of the Ministry of Development, among which has been present the Councillor herself, Marifran Carazo. Moreno said that from the Area of Land Management is working “to find a solution to this historic situation of irregular housing in Andalusia” which, as he said, “is not only a suffering for many neighbors, but also a hindrance to the municipalities themselves, in their urban development, and an environmental problem.

Moreno has considered that “after so many years” the time has come to find a space from the legal field to overcome this situation. “We have been working on this for six months and we are convinced that with good will and dialogue we can achieve a solution that is beneficial for the majority of irregular housing,” he added.

Along these lines, Moreno has stated that this is a problem that has dragged Andalusia for decades, defined by a complex bureaucratic tangle and could have been undertaken with greater diligence.

Therefore, he said that, given the difficulty of the situation and the volume of families affected, in the action of the Andalusian Government are necessary boldness and courage to respond to different situations that may arise.

“For the first time in many years, in decades, there is a government where the president himself takes it so seriously that he comes to this assembly to listen directly to those affected, to seek a solution for the vast majority.

In this legislature we are going to solve to a great extent the problem of irregular housing in Andalusia and, for this, we need collaboration and cooperation of the municipalities, who have an outstanding role in this objective, which is none other than to give a situation of normality to many families,” he concluded.

Hopefully it will be the beginning of the end of a situation that has led many people to suffer huge economic losses, and a situation of brutal helplessness, by the administrations.
