The Diputación de Málaga, together with Carta Malacitana and the active Marbella Association, have presented the Espetacular campaign which aims to convey to UNESCO the intention of naming the famous espeto malagueño as intangible heritage of humanity.
Other actions developed with the support of the Diputación are the photographic competition La moraga y el espeto de sardinas (The Moraga and the Sardine Spit), in which you can participate until 20 August through the Marbella Activa website; the informative brochure El espeto de Málaga en 20 respuestas (The Málaga Spit in 20 Responses) or the book on the spit that will be published soon and whose author is the historian Jesús Moreno, vice-president of La Carta Malacitana, who was also present during the presentation. Achieving the distinction of Intangible Heritage of Humanity is a slow and complicated process.
In the first place, it is necessary to obtain the necessary approval and support to be able to transfer the matter to the corresponding organism of the autonomous community. From the board, it is taken to the Ministry of Culture, which once a year must transfer all applications to UNESCO, in a process that can take seven years.
GREAT INITIATIVE, of which we are all in love with the spit and this our blessed land.
